What with all that snow on the East coast this winter, I made the tough choice to leave my lovely friends and fans in Virginia and GO WEST. My farewell show in Charlottesville was more than I could ever have asked for. You all came out in huge numbers to say good-bye and we had many a tearful moment that evening. My dear friend Rusty Speidel could not have done a better job supporting the songs, truly a beautiful and ideal energy for accompaniment. Obviously, the night was all the more fun since we were opening up for the fabulous Ellis Paul and his big CD release night! Singing Rose Tattoo with him and the band, and then coming back for rousing covers of I'll Be There, and a little Journey, I had a ball! The night could not have been more lovely and bittersweet for me. I will never be able to thank you all for being there for me over the years and showing so much love and support. And now.... LA! I have settled in a bit (so has the big puppy-dog Murphy!) and am very much looking forward to a little sunshine in the coming months as I get acquainted with my new city. Please, if you have ideas, venues, contacts or whathaveyou, let me know! |

Dearest Friends and Fans, With the disaster in Haiti coming to a head, I am in a position to donate a possible $2000 to relief efforts. All I ask of you is to VOTE for my song AS OFTEN AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE IN THE COMING DAYS on lastritesfilm.com as part of a national competition to air "Waited" in the trailer for the film. Just go to the "Vote for my favorite Song" and select Mariana Bell. If I win, I earn TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS, ALL of which I will donate to relief efforts in Haiti. I am planning on giving to the Red Cross, but if you fans have another cause you would rather support for Haitians, please email, post on Myspace or FB or Twitter, and along with your votes, I will donate the winnings to my fans' charity of choice for Haiti. Please, let's do this!!!! With so much Love and gratitude, Mariana Bell |

We've finally gotten it together to make a groovy video for you! In the capable hands of director Matt Manzano and cameraman Jason Shifflett (with serious help from John Bulfang), we spent two days shooting raw footage and green screen images for BOOK. In the gorgeous setting of Crozet on a sunlit Indian summer afternoon, I pranced, guitar in hand, before a glistening reservoir (which I have to say, was a bit weird...you'd think with being an actor for so long I'd be more comfy in front of a camera!) and wandered dreamily lip-syncing under the trees. I brought in band members Teswar Wood and Drex Weaver to do some air-playing in front of a green screen with me. We may not even use it all, but it sure was pretty to watch the sunset in our fabulous VA foliage. All told, the actual video will be less live action than computer and hand-drawn images. We had a really fun time doing it (basically goofing off to make myself less nervous, cracking inappropriate jokes and generally hamming it up) and hopefully, it will look like a story out of an old book! I can't wait to see how it goes in post-production and will show you all as soon as I get it! I plan on sending out limited edition, signed copies of the DVD to fans for Holiday gifts, so check back for details on how to get yours! |
